Leg Unlocking, 2011 and 2014

Script:

"Everyone who wants to participate should move to the center of the room and pair off. One person in each pair lies face-down on the ground; the other proceeds to give a therapeutic massage to the back of the prostrate individual’s legs, from the buttocks (or beneath the buttocks if preferred by the recipient) to the ankles. The masseuse should be on the lookout for any points of tension in the legs, and work them all out. This should not be a quick process. The space behind a person’s legs is particularly charged; this is the place in the body where human beings tend to carry a lot of tension, particularly in the buttocks.

Once the leg unlocking is complete, the prostrate individual is encouraged to get up and walk around for a little while, feeling the new-found freedom in her unbound legs. Then this person becomes the masseuse and the former masseuse should lie down, face down, to have his legs unlocked.

This Happening is about strictly platonic, therapeutic touch; neither individual should feel particularly threatened or uncomfortable at all during the process. Other platonic or therapeutic touching is encouraged during the process, but particular focus must be paid to the back of the legs. Communication is an important part of any therapeutic exercise, and as such, talking is permitted and, if beneficial to the leg unlocking process, encouraged."

Tuning Sculpture, 2014 (at BHQFU, February 2014)

Script:

"Everybody in the room place one hand on another person's shoulder, and have a different person place their hand on their own shoulder, until the circuit is closed. Then, every person in unison sings any note that comes to mind, as loudly as possible, continually. Simultaneously, each person listens to the person in front of them, and tunes them: squeezing the shoulder upward with the hand means 'sharper!' and pushing down on the shoulder means 'flatter!' Each person also receives feedback from the person tuning them, and adjusts their pitch accordingly. The piece ends when everybody is singing the same note."
Pleasure Scores for Sex-Ed: RESPONSE & RESPONSIBILITY : Spectrums of Consent : On Power & Play, fall 2014, and Sex-Ed: De-Realization, fall 2015.

First session involved activating the pleasure body, and learning about expressing and responding to consent in the body through movement exercises.

Second session focused on physical dearmoring through movement and awareness of pleasure in the body.
