(Stray Dog) Hydrophobia looks at the deep sea as a space entangled with the living and non-living. The UN Convention on the Law of the Sea was created almost 50 years ago and is currently writing the regulations for deep sea mining. We are thinking about and holding together the multiple time scales of the deep sea. – the time scales of geological time, the 150 years since the beginning of oceanography, the 50 year period of human governing bodies writing the current law of the sea, and the immanent crisis of climate emergency.
